Aeroextremes project under evaluation

On 14 September, the call for the Individual Fellowships of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions was finally closed. Therefore my project, called AEROEXTREMES, is currently under evaluation. Since the topic if rather confidential, I won’t spoil you with details, but as the name suggests it has to do with the study of aerosol-climate interactions, and in particular with their effect in extreme events.

I have some experience with the program. Last year I applied again with pretty much the same project. Obviously it was not funded. But something I like of the way the European Commission proceed with this is that they give you very valuable feedback. Therefore, this year I tried to improve the project, paying especial attention to the caveats that were identified by the reviewers.

In case it can be of interest for anyone working on a proposal for a similar program, the major caveats identified in my project were:

Regarding the first point, I have to acknowledge that it was a clear flaw of the project because I had not understood how important this was as part of the proposal. This year I have develop this aspect in detail, taking care to explain the merits of the supervisor during the secondment, and how the work there will greatly contribute to the success of the project. Regarding the second point, it was a lack of care explaining the particular aim of the project. I was too general and loose in the introduction. This year I tried to be more precise, focussing in what this project can provide respect to the state of the art. Regarding the last point, I have fully reviewed all risks intrinsic to the project, trying to be very realistic regarding the problems I can foresee.

Well, I hope this year I’m successful with the proposal. I’ll let you know the outcome of the evaluation, which I expect to get in January/February.
