About OSERM![]() Since its birth
several decadas ago, the concept of sustainability has been receiving
special attention, and now it constitutes an esential reference, from
local to international level for many different institutions. Withing
the growing concern for fostering sustainability at all levels,
including regional, there is the iniciative to create and launch of the
Observatory for de Sustainability in Murcia Region (OSERM).
The Obserbatory for Sustainability in Murcia region (OSERM) is a project born in October 2007, the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine Environment (MARM) and the University of Murcia (UMU) for monitoring sustainability in the region of Murcia in its various dimensions, social, economic, environmental and Institicional, in line with the work being done by the Observatory of Sustainability in Spain (OSE), and other regional obserbatories of sustainability. The
primary
mission of OSERM focuses on research, monitoring and reporting
on progress and challenges for sustainability in the Murcia region by
means of a set of sustainability indicators to
be updated annually. The
Observatory
of Sustainability in Murcia region now has its
headquarters on the third floor of Building D in the Espinardo Campus
of University of Murcia.

collaboration of the OSE in the aplication of standard
methodologies and in the participation of activities. The OSERM has a
team
of researchers at University of Murcia, in the "Instituto
Universitario del Agua y Medio Ambiente" of Murcia University.
