Fellowships

The Murray Foundation has kindly offered the possibility to provide 10 grants for support of European students wishing to attend the next 7th European Coastal Lagoons Symposium, and to present a poster or an oral presentation. Individual grants will cover the registration fee, including the lunch during the symposium days and the technical visit to the Mar Menor lagoon.

Furthermore there will be grants (up to 2500 euros in total) for students from North Africa to attend the Conference. Where the grant does not cover the full costs it can be used as co-financing.

In order to choose the students for the attendance support we have created a small Eurolag committee including Prof. Alice Newton (Universidade do Algarve) and Prof. Pierluigi Viaroli (Università Degli Studi di Parma) and two members of the organizing committee of 7th Eurolag.

Additionally there will be awarded two grants (up to 2500 euros in total) to students attending the Symposium, who the scientific committee feel have made a significant contribution to the understanding of lagoon processes. The object of these grants is to allow the students to attend a training course or participate in a research project in a laboratory other than where he or she is studying. Where the grant does not cover the full costs it can be used as co-financing. The results of the course/project/stay should be presented in the 8th Eurolag conference. EuroLag will provide a committee for the selection of candidates including researchers from different countries.

Students will apply using the Murray Foundation forms that are attached below, indicating the type of fellowship requested. Students must justify their contribution to the Symposium and attach also a support letter from their professor, and send it to the organizing committee of 7th Eurolag (cmarcos@um.es).

The deadline for the applications is February 16, 2016.
