Alicia Bermejo PhD in Philosophy

On the 10th of July this year, Alicia Bermejo Salar, former PhD student in the Area of Aesthetics and Theory of Arts of the Department of Philosophy of The University of Murcia presented and defended her doctoral thesis “The Problem of Interpretation in Art: Intention and Meaning”, supervised by Francisca Pérez Carreño. Her work has been funded by Fundación Séneca.

The research defends the intentionalist account of interpretation and artistic meaning, addressing the problems and objections that have contested it.

The tribunal, made up of professors specializing in Aesthetics, Philosophy of Mind and Philosophy of Language, graded the dissertation with “sobresaliente cum laude” and international doctorate.
