Verónica Mellado Romero

My name is Verónica Mellado Romero, I am a Clinical and Biomedical Analysis Laboratory Technician. I have just started my journey in the world of science and nothing better than starting with Marta Garaulet's obesity group, mainly focused on Nutrigenetics and Chronobiology.

My job is to take care of the biological samples of the ONTIME population (OBESITY, NUTRIGENOMIC, TIME, MEDITERRANEAN). With these samples I perform DNA extraction in blood or saliva, quantification and PCR to determine the genetic polymorphisms of interest.

I also collaborate with studies of adipose tissue performing RNA extraction, quantification and PCR to study the biological rhythms of adipose tissue. On the other hand, we carry out melatonin-insulin studies to know the secretion capacity of insulin and see how it affects the metabolism of obese people.

I am so glad to belong family and at the same time to be able to learn new techniques that provide me with experience for the future.
