Admission criteria (PhD in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling)

Applicant profile

The EIDUM recommends that applicant hold the master’s degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling/Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. In the event of students who do not hold this master’s degree but instead hold a master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Sciences, Biochemistry or similar, may be considered for admission onto the doctoral programme.

Students may also need to take training complements to mitigate their shortcomings in certain areas of Theoretical Chemistry and Computation Modelling. The supervisor will suggest the training complements required by the Academic Committee for the Student’s research according to their academic record.

The language of the master’s degree in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling/Theoretical and Computational Chemistry is English, at B2 level. Therefore, students’ research period will require the use of adequate English.

Admission criteria

Students who meet the candidates’ profiles mentioned above may be admitted to the PhD programme. The Academic Coordination Committee of the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling will analyse the admission applications evaluating the following aspects and merits. The specific percentage of each admission criterion to assess the CV of the candidate is indicated in brackets.

-Student’s grades obtained in the bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree (55%).

- Publications in journals and communications in conferences, especially those derived from the master’s degree thesis (15%).

Students with special educational needs

Article 8 of the Doctorate Regulations of the University of Murcia states that in the event of students with special educational needs derived from a disability, the selection and admissions systems and procedures will include the relevant action to favour, as far as possible, equality in the access conditions and integration in all aspects. To do so, the Service of Attention to Diversity and Volunteers (ADV) will evaluate the need for possible syllabus adaptations.
