Juan Francisco Cerdá

Juan Francisco Cerdá graduated in English Philology at the University of Murcia in 2004 and received the Advance Studies Diploma in 2008. He holds an MA on “Shakespeare and Theatre” from the Shakespeare Institute (University of Birmingham) and his MA Thesis, Filming The Taming of the Shrew in Franco’s Dictatorship: La fierecilla domada (1956), received the Sir Barry Jackson Award from the School of English, Drama and American & Canadian Studies of the University of Birmingham. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Murcia for his dissertation on Shakespeare and the Renovation of Spanish Theatrical Culture (1898-1936). He is currently Senior Lecturer at the English Department of the University of Murcia and member of the research project “Shakespeare in Spain within the framework of his European reception”. His work on Shakespeare and on his Spanish reception has been published in journals such as FolioAtlantisThe Journal of Shakespeare and AppropriationCahiers Élisabéthains and Shakespeare; and has participated in books for publishing houses such as Cambridge University Press, Palgrave/Macmillan, John Benjamins, Bloomsbury/Arden and edit.um, among others (for a detailed list, see our “Publications” section).
