Resumen

La Transición Española es uno de los principales y más controvertidos acontecimientos de la España Contemporánea. La interpretación y significación de la transición a la democracia han cambiado con el tiempo y en el ámbito educativo esta cuestión se muestra especialmente relevante.
El estudio de caso aquí presentado, reveló que la Transición se encuentra, por su cronología, relegada a un lugar postrimero del temario. La celeridad en su tratamiento, por el acuciante final de curso, repercute en la escasa crítica de un contenido centrado en los hitos más relevantes subsumiendo la problemática del proceso de la Transición.
Como resultado, el imaginario social sobre la Transición de los estudiantes apenas se ve modificado pudiendo afirmar que el tratamiento del tema no fomenta el cuestionamiento de la Transición y consolida una construcción hermética e idealizada.

Abstract

The Spanish Transition is one of the leading and most controversial events in contemporary Spain. The interpretation and significance of the transition to democracy have changed as time went by and this issue is particularly relevant in education.
The study of case here presented revealed that the transition is, by its chronology, relegated to the last place on the syllabus. The speed in their treatment, due to the pressing ending of the year, has an effect on the limited criticism about a content focused on the most pertinent milestones subsuming the issue of the transition process.
As a result, the students’ social imaginary about the Transition is barely modified and it can be safely said that the treatment of the subject does not encourage to question the Transition and consolidates an idealized and closed construction.

Art and expression in Gombrich’s thought

Resumen

El siguiente trabajo hace un recorrido a través de las principales ideas que el gran historiador del arte, E. H. Gombrich, ha creado sobre la teoría de la expresión artística. Teniendo siempre en cuenta la formación e influencias de este autor, entre las que se encuentran la Escuela de Viena, Karl Popper o Ernst Kris, reuniremos las ideas que encontramos dispersas entre sus diversas obras y artículos que tienen que ver con la representación de las emociones o la percepción de la expresión. Su teoría estará basada en las “Cuatro Teorías de la Expresión Artística”, especialmente en la cuarta, que está ideada por él mismo y es un punto intermedio entre las anteriores, donde el artista se convierte en el protagonista.

Abstract

The following work looks through the main ideas that the great art historian, Ernst H. Gombrich created about the theory of artistic expression. Having always in mind his formation and influences, as the School of Vienna, Karl Popper and Ernst Kris, we will gather the ideas scattered among several of his books and articles in relation to the representation of emotions or the reception of the expression. His theory is based on the so-called “Four Theories of Artistic Expression”, particularly in the fourth one, which had been created by himself and that is a middle point between the three previous ones, where the artist becomes the main character of the art and the artistic expression.

Raze the Vendée! Civil War and Infernal Columns in the heart of the French Revolution

Resumen

En medio de la Revolución Francesa, cuando la Libertad y los Derechos del Hombre fueron
proclamados por primera vez en la historia, una parte de Francia decidió dar la espalda a este nuevo sistema político y moral con el deseo de continuar la forma de vida tradicional, en la que la autoridad real y la religión católica eran los credos del pueblo. El movimiento de sublevación frente al proceso revolucionario tuvo lugar principalmente al oeste del país, originando diversos conflictos internos que adquirieron especial relevancia en la región de la Vendée, donde se vivió una auténtica guerra civil en la que la República aplicó una política de guerra total a través de las conocidas Columnas Infernales que no conseguiría poner fin al problema. La contienda finalizaría tres años después con un proceso de pacificación de la región rebelde y unas consecuencias terribles para todos.

Abstract

In the middle of the French Revolution, when the Liberty and the Rights of Man were proclaimed, a part of France decided to turn away from this new political and moral system with the aim of returning to their recent past when the Royal Authority and the Catholic Religion were the creed of the people. This against the revolutionary process took place in the west of the country, causing many internal conflicts that acquired special relevance in the Vendée region, where a true civil war exploded and the French Republic enforced a policy of total war unleashing the so-called Infernal Columns, although they didn’t put an end to the problem. The strife would end three years after with a peace process in the rebel region and terrible consequences for all.

Resumen

El propósito de este trabajo es realizar una síntesis de las fuentes primarias que hablan de Julia Domna – destacando a Dión Casio, Herodiano, Historia Augusta y Flavio Filóstrato – y los estudios modernos principales, con el objetivo de conocer el papel e influencia que debió de ejercer esta mujer. Su papel no solo se basó en ser matrona, sino que consiguió ser esposa y madre de emperadores. Honrada con numerosos adjetivos como Augusta, Pía, Felix o mater Augustorum y mater castrorum, su influencia se extendió por todo el Imperio. Nos encontramos así, ante una figura que se salió de los márgenes impuestos por la sociedad romana a las mujeres.

Abstract

This work is aimed to do a synthesis of every primary source that speaks about Julia Domna – specially Dion Casio, Herodiano, Historia Augusta and Flavio Filostrato – as well as the main modern studies, with the objective of knowing the role and influence this woman might have exercised.
Her role was not only based on the fact she was a midwife, but she also managed to be a wife and an emperor’s mother. Honoured with several adjectives such as Augusta, Pía, Felix or mater Augustorum and mater castrorum, her influence spread all over the Empire. Therefore, we are dealing with a figure that went out from the margins imposed to women by the Roman society.

Resumen
El presente trabajo pone de manifiesto la sesión del seminario Work in Progress llevado a cabo en la Facultad de Letras de la Universidad de Murcia dedicada a la investigación historiográfica acerca de la vida cotidiana durante el Imperio Nuevo Asirio, iniciándose con un estudio bibliométrico. Se analiza aquí la metodología empleada en dicha investigación, partiendo de lo general y avanzando en mayores niveles de concreción temática, centrándose posteriormente en uno de sus aspectos, la situación de la mujer en el Imperio Neoasirio. Culmina con algunas de las más destacadas conclusiones obtenidas en dicha investigación.

Abstract
This paper is a brief summary of the seminar Work in Progress carried out in the University of Murcia regarding the historigraphy of the daily life during the Neoassyrian Empire. The methodology is analysed here, considering a bibliometric study as starting point and moving towards further levels of detail, focussing in one issue at the end: the situation of the Assyrian Women during the Neoassyrian Empire. Finally the paper includes some of the most outstanding conclusions of this investigation.

Resumen
La egiptología en España ha sufrido un gran retraso a nivel de investigación y divulgación en su historia por diferentes razones. A día de hoy esta disciplina en España necesita una revisión desde la base, es decir, partiendo de la visión de conjunto en los diferentes ámbitos y esferas de actuación poder llegar a vislumbrar cuales son las mejores soluciones para una potenciación de esta disciplina.

Abstract
Egyptology in Spain has suffered a long delay at the level of research and outreach in its history for various reasons. Today this discipline in Spain need a review from the base, on the overview of the different areas and spheres of activity able to see what the best solutions for a strengthening of this discipline.

Resumen

Presentamos un breve resumen acerca de las líneas que han guiado nuestro estudio de la presencia bizantina en España. Insistimos en el debate que rodea estas cuestiones, y analizamos la posibilidad de determinar un patrón arqueológico para esta presencia, haciendo hincapié en sus diferencias respecto a la visigoda, y dentro de los contextos materiales de la Antigüedad Tardía.

Abstract

We present a brief abstract about the lines which have guided our study of the Byzantine presence in Spain. We insist on the debate which involves these questions, and analyse the possibility of fixing an archaelogical pattern for this presence, emphasizing its differences respect the visigoth pattern, and inside the materials contexts of the Late Antiquity.
