How to receive academic credit?

Being a course belonging to the University of Murcia, you will receive a certificate with 5 ECTS credits and 125 hours certificate, but validation is recommended at your own university for afterwards local recognition.

As each university has their own validation system. You may need to contact your own academic advisor to start the process before coming and make validations and so by prior agreement, to obtain its official rating from the University of Murcia and your own university, having a dual recognition.

 

Who can participate in training courses in archeology in CEPOAT?

Anyone over 18 can participate in our courses, but usually our groups consist of university and postgraduate students.

Do I have to be a student of Archaeology, History, Anthropology?

No. People of all backgrounds can participate in our training.

Do I need previos work experience in an archaeological field?

No. Only for underwater archaeology a previous course must have been completed, a baptism dive, to ensure your safety in the aquatic environment as well as having a medical examination for underwater activities.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. The language has never been a problem for people who want to learn archaeology. Our archaeologist team is fluent in English, or at least most of them, and all explanations are in English and Spanish, which enables the learning of both languages, as all students will be mixed in groups.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. The participants must be at least 18 years old.

How big are the groups?

Depends on the site, but our groups usually are between 15 and 25 participants, each site has its limitations per meter and per student.

Can I receive academic credit for courses CEPOAT field archeology?

Yes, you will receive a certificate from the University of Murcia, personally signed by the Vice-Rector for Education and Innovation, that will credit you with 5 ECTS credits achieved, the 125-hour course, dates and grades obtained.

Also you may need to contact your own academic advisor to start the process before coming and make validations and so by prior agreement, to obtain its official rating from the University of Murcia and your own university, having a dual recognition.

 

How does the application process work?

You must pre-register by sending an e-mail to arqueologia@cdlmurcia.org and send your CV

How do I get to the hostel/accomodation place?

We do not provide air travel or arrival from airport to hostel. You will need to book your own flight, and look for means of transport, although the section of each course and will offer maps, coordinates and helpul traveling information.

What is the schedule of meals?

Breakfast at 7:30
Mid morning snack at 11:00
Lunch at 15:00
Dinner at 21:00

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is recommended. In case of cancellation of this course, the enrollment fees will be refunded, but we do not reimburse air travel fares nor expenses. For European students is recommended European Health insurance card.
