Frequent asked Questions

If you wish to join the University of Murcia, please:

  1. Check first of all that our university offers a programme fitting your academic background and research interests.
  2. Read the information held in this sheet regarding costs, deadlines and required documents.
  3. If you decide to go on, please write to the programme contact point (a complete list) and explain your research interests, so that the program Academic Committee can check whether it counts on available tutors/directors specialized in your topic of research. If you still need help to find your programme contact point or the right tutor/director, please write to the International School of Doctoral Studies.

When enrolling at any of our doctoral programmes, please consider the following costs:

  • Doctoral tutorship: 450€/year approx.
  • Complementary training: if you are required to complete complementary training to join the programme, the training, usually consisting of subjects belonging to official masters’ programs, will be covered by the student too. Complementary training may cost from 40 to 1000€, depending on the number of courses you are required to complete.
  • Title: 220 approx. once the thesis is defended.
  • Academic level check: when the student has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree obtained in a country not belonging to the EU, a 55€ fee for academic level check.

a. If your bachelor’s and master’s degrees have been issued by a university outside the European Higher Education Area, you will be required to deliver the following documents:

  1. COPY OF YOUR PASSPORT properly legalized
  2. COMPLETED AND SIGNED APPLICATION FOR LEVEL CHECK (one for the Bachelor’s and one for your Master’s degree). Please, find the forms here:

  3. COPY OF YOUR BACHELOR’S DEGREE properly legalized with its certified translation into Spanish.
  4. TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS of your Bachelor’s degree (a document which certifies the official length of the study programme; completed subjects, hours per subject and marks) properly legalized with its certified translation into Spanish.
  5. COPY OF YOUR MASTER’S DEGREE properly legalized with its certified translation into Spanish.
  6. COPY OF THE TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS of your Master’s degree (a document which certifies the official length of the study programme; completed subjects, hours per subject and marks) properly legalized with its certified translation into Spanish.
  7. A CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY YOUR UNIVERSITY that accredits that your Master’s degree entitles you to access a Doctoral programme in your country, properly legalized with its certified translation into Spanish.

b. If your bachelor’s and master’s degrees have been issued by a university belonging to the European Higher Education Area, you will be required to deliver the following documents:

  • COPY OF YOUR BACHERLOR’S DEGREE AND TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS, together with AN OFFICIAL TRANSLATION of both documents into Spanish.
  • COPY OF YOUR MASTER’S DEGREE AND TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS, together with AN OFFICIAL  TRANSLATION of both documents into Spanish.
     

Murcia is a medium-sized region located on the southeastern coast of Spain. The capital, where the university and one of its 2 main campuses are located, has 800.000 inhabitants and an average temperature of 10º in winter and 26º during summers, that is, mild winters and very warm summers.

Accomodation and board: Although the city of Murcia counts on two halls of residence, most of students choose to share an apartment at the city center. It is estimated that board and accommodation in a shared apartment amounts 550-600€/month. Transport and other study costs should be considered apart. Transport. The city center is small and easy to walk. Buses and a tramp leave regularly from the city center to the second university Campus of Espinardo, 4 km. from the city center. The price of a university tramp bonus with unlimited use costs 20€/month approx.
