Teresa Muela Clemente

My name is Teresa Muela Clemente and I have a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the San Antonio de Murcia Catholic University (UCAM). Before starting this career, my contact with food as a concept was limited to family and friends talking about miracle diets. During my studies through the nutrition degree, I realized that the topic "diets" was only the tip of a large iceberg, where multiple disciplines were hidden. Then, I understood how exciting my profession is, the importance of individualized nutrition and nutritional education in any population, whether healthy or sick.

As a result of this thought, and with the undoubted lack of exploitation and information that surrounds this profession, my interest in research began in the laboratories of the university and increased during my internship at the Murcian Institute of Research and Development Agrarian and Food (IMIDA).

Once I graduated, it did not take me long to know that I wanted to continue acquiring knowledge in the world of research and for this reason, I did a Master of Research in Human Nutrition at the University of Granada (UGR).

In the middle of a global pandemic, despite the university's recommendations to carry out a paper project instead of face-to-face internships, I talked with Marta and, once the “new normal” returned, I was lucky to carry out the Master's internship in the wonderful team of Marta Garaulet who, later, would become the director of my new stage in the world of research as a PhD student.
