Jennifer Ruiz-Morgan

Jennifer Ruiz-Morgan is Teaching Assistant at the University of Extremadura. She graduated in English Studies at the University of Murcia (2014), obtaining a Third National Award for Excellence in Academic Performance. In 2015 she completed her MA in European Comparative Literature at the University of Murcia and was awarded an FPI predoctoral fellowship (2015–2019) to work as research assistant in the project. She holds a PhD from the University of Murcia (2021) and an Extraordinary PhD Award in Arts and Humanities for her thesis titled “Shakespeare’s Juliet and Her Representations in Spanish Theatrical Culture (1600s–1890s)”. She has done research at the Shakespeare Institute, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Fundación Juan March, and the Spanish National Library. Her research centres on the reception of Shakespeare on the nineteenth-century Spanish stage. She has published articles on the reception of Shakespeare in Spain and Europe in journals such as Arrêt sur scène / Scene Focus (2017) and Alicante Journal of English Studies (2022), as well as book chapters in Romeo and Juliet in European Culture (John Benjamins, 2017) and Othello in European Culture (John Benjamins, 2022). She is the founder of SEDERI Junior, the International Conference for Junior Researchers of the Spanish and Portuguese Society for English Renaissance Studies (SEDERI).
