Notes:

A 2x4 cm size bone was found in the distal esophagus, which appeared congestive and with some petechial areas. Removal by flexible endoscopy was not possible due to weakness of the forceps. Therefore, a rigid endoscope (esophagoscope, provided with a stronger forceps) was used. Polypectomy snares (of the flexible endoscope) were useful to move the bone from behind. The strong forceps of the esophagoscope allowed us to pull the foreign body out of the esophagus. A significant damage of the esophagus mucosa was observed after removal of the bone, because of its deep insertion in the mucosa.
