The interest of the Multifunctional Molecular Materials Group focuses on the design, synthesis and study of organic molecules to be applied in organic electronics, supramolecular self-assembly and sensing. Organic synthesis is unquestionably linked to the progress of science and technology. The emergence of new applications in areas as diverse as physics (electronics and photonics), biology (imaging and sensing) or medicine (drug delivery systems and target selective drugs) are very often accompanied by the utilization of organic molecules. This locates chemistry at the frontier of several disciplines where the synthetic molecules with application in different areas get defined as molecular materials.
