INTRODUCTION

The EU Law Lab is a hub for excellence in EU studies with a marked interdisciplinary and practical orientation. Established in 9 December 2021 by the University of Murcia Law Faculty Governing body, the EU Law Lab is a permanent seminar for EU Law analysis, closely connected to the judiciary, practitioners, civil servants and civil society actors (e.g. NGOs and trade unions) interested in EU Law. The EU Law Lab has been created in the spirit of Jean Monnet’s famous quote «rien n’est possible sans les hommes, rien ne dure sans les institutions» (Nothing is possible without men, nothing is lasting without institutions) (Jean Monnet, Mémoires, p. 476). In sum, the EU Law Lab is poised to provide a permanent forum for the debate and promotion of EU Law through the organization of numerous academic activities.

The EU Law Lab will host the TEULP Conferences and Jean Monnet Lectures.

The TEULP Conferences will bring together the team members and guest speakers to present the main findings of the activities conducted during each project year. In addition, the international team members will discuss the novelties on the impact of EU Law in Ireland and Italy. The Conferences will include a presentation entitled “The view from outside the EU” related to the global impact of EU Law carried out by prestigious scholars from top universities worldwide. The conferences, conducted partly in English and partly in Spanish, will raise awareness of the project’s results and enhance the visibility of participants in three Member States and outside the EU.

The TEULP Jean Monnet lectures will be organised throughout the project. The lectures, offered partly in English and partly in Spanish, will address hot topics of EU law and policy (e.g. European Health Union, Next Generation Funds or Rule of Law) with a view to foster dialogue between the academic world and society and to reach a wider audience beyond the academic sphere (general public, civil servants, judges and practitioners…).
