Presentation

Founded in 1915, the Law School is the oldest Faculty of the University of Murcia, and one of the most prestigious in Spain. It is renowned for the excellence of its faculty and students, many of whom have reached the highest positions in Government, public administration, the judiciary, international organizations as well as international law firms.

At present, several members of the Spanish Supreme Court are alumni from the Law School. Similarly, Judges of the Spanish Constitutional Court, as well as Judges of International Courts, Spanish Ambassadors to the United Nations, Ministers of the National Government, or United Nations Special Rapporteurs, have previously been students or professors at the Law School.

The Law School offers four undergraduate programs, namely, a Bachelor of Laws, a Dual Degree in Laws and Business Administration, a Bachelor in Politics and Public Management, and a Bachelor in Criminology, six Master programs, as well as a doctoral program with over 30 research topics. The Law School is one of the few in Spain that offers a bilingual English-Spanish Law Degree.

The Faculty of Law is composed of eight departments, some of which are divided in areas. The departments are the following: Political Science, Administrative Law, Civil Law, Private Law (area of Roman Law and area of Commercial Law), Procedural International and Financial Law, (area of Procedural law, area of Public International Law, area of Private International Law, area of Financial Law), Labour and Social Security Law, Foundations of the Juridical and Constitutional Order (area of Constitutional Law, area of Philosophy of Law, area of Ecclesiastic Law of the State), and Juridical History and Criminal law (area of History of the Law and of the Institutions, area of Criminal Law).

Information for international students

If you are a foreign student and wish to study at the Faculty of Law, you might be in one of the following situations:

1. You wish to pursue studies under an international exchange programme, such as Erasmus+ or ISEP.
   In this case, you will be exempt from the payment of tuition fees depending upon the agreement with your University. As an exchange student you will have an academic tutor to help you upon your arrival. This tutor will be a professor of some department of the Faculty of Law.

2. You have started studies at a foreign university and wish to continue them at the Faculty of Law.
   Modules studied abroad can be validated when the content and class hours are equivalent. If you are interested, you should send an e-mail to the Secretary of the Faculty of Law explaining your situation and enclosing the relevant documentation: secretariaderecho@um.es
3. You wish to carry out Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law.
   If you are a foreign student, have a graduate degree (or academic equivalent), awarded by a University or other Higher Education establishment and wish to carry out Doctoral studies in Spain, this can be done by contacting the Secretary of the Faculty of Law : secretariaderecho@um.es

Bilingual Spanish-English Bachelor of Laws

The Faculty of Laws offers the opportunity to study a bilingual Spanish-English Bachelor of Laws with a significant number of subjects fully taught in English. The bilingual Law Degree aims to promote the mobility of our students, as well as their employment possibilities in an increasingly international, demanding and competitive environment.

The Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia offers a group of 70 places with subjects in Spanish and English. This offer is open to students who have been admitted to the Law Degree after the pre-registration process, and who present an official certificate of linguistic competence in English level B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)), or prove that they have completed a baccalaureate in the English-Spanish bilingual modality, or pass a specific test of the English language (level B2) organized for that purpose. For admission to this group, students who meet the requirements will be sorted on the basis of the average grade obtained in the entrance exam to the University. International Students from non-Spanish speaking countries must also prove knowledge of Spanish.

If the demand exceeds the places offered, students will be selected under the criteria and in the order specified below:

1. Those who prove to have a level C1 or higher in English.
2. Those who have completed a Bilingual Baccalaureate (English).
3. Rest of students who meet the general requirements.

Students enrolled in the June session will have preference over the students of the September session.
