Teresa Hernández González

My name is Teresa Hernández González and I was born in Murcia in 1975. The first time I spoke with Marta Garaulet was on the phone and what started as a great connection, over time has become a great friendship. But that was a long time ago, so I was studying fifth in pharmacy and she needed a person who worked on the Garaulet Method. At that time I had nothing clear about my future but the idea of developing myself with a professional with so much prestige and in a field as fascinating as Nutrition, I was excited from the first day.

In September of 1998 I started working on the Garaulet Method and until today there have been 23 years of intense work and continuous learning. During these years I studied Nutrition and in 2003 I started a new career at the head of the Garaulet Center in Lorca. There I worked as a nutritionist pharmaceutical, developing food behavior therapy and nutrition education in the dietary treatment of obesity. It was also in 2003 when I joined Garaulet Nutrition, a society that is responsible for the development of franchises. Since then, I have been in charge of the training of the new franchisees, as training director.

Since I finished my studies I had a great illusion to complete my training with a PhD. It has been difficult to find time to carry out it, because professional and family commitments (I am the mother of five children), have made it complicated.

I am part of this research group since 2016, in order to do my doctoral thesis. Nowadays we are doing a very beautiful study on chocolate in which we try to demonstrate how the intake of chocolate at the right time of the day (morning) improves circadian rhythms and metabolic efficiency.

Imagine the results of this research turned into concrete advices that could help people to improve their nutritional habits and help them to be healthier gives me strength to overcome difficulties. On the other hand, belonging to this group is giving me the opportunity to work with great people who bring me so many good things and for which I feel very fortunate. I am very grateful to Marta Garaulet who has given me this opportunity.
