Applicants with degrees issued within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)

Graduates of recognized academic institutions outside Spain should hold a degree equivalent to a Spanish bachelor’s degree. Equivalency is determined by the Graduate Admissions Office.

Required documents

  1. University degree.
  2. Transcript of records (a document which certifies the official length of the study programme; list of courses completed, contact hours per course and records otbained).
  3. Passport copy.
  4. Evidence of Language Proficiency: all applicants from countries in which the official language is not Spanish are required to submit official evidence of Spanish language proficiency.

Applicants not holding an official evidence may take two standardized tests: Certificate of Spanish as a Second Language (DELE), and the International Spanish Language Assesment System (SIELE).

A B2 level is advisable in both tests in order to adequately follow and perform in class.

Besides some masters may accept as posible alternatives to DELE and SIELE: a Skype interview in Spanish or a language proficiency report issued by a instructor of Spanish.

  1. The university degree and the transcript of records must be submitted together with a certified translation into Spanish.

Please, note that legalization is not required for documents issued within the E.U. or in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland or Liechtenstein. Legalization is required for documents issued in all other countries.

In order to find out your possibilities of admission, propesctive applicants can submit readable scanned copies of the application materials to incoming@um.es

Hardcopies must be sent along upon confirmation of admission in order to complete the registration process. No registration will be completed until hardcopies are received and checked.

 

Applicants with degrees issued outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)

This verification can be directly request from the Graduate Admissions Office; a positive verification entitles to apply for admission.

What do I have to submit?

Application materials:

  1. International degree verification request.
  2. University degree.
  3. Transcript of records (a document which certifies the official length of the study programme; list of courses completed, contact hours per course and records otbained).
  4. Passport copy.
  5. Certificate issued by home university which  states that the degree entitles the holder to study a master programme in the country where the degree has been issued. properly legalized with its certified translation into Spanish. This is not necessary for students coming from China, since there is an agreement with this country, although we need to check the documents first.
  6. Evidence of Language Proficiency: all applicants from countries in which the official language is not Spanish are required to submit official evidence of Spanish language proficiency.

  1. The documents have to be properly legalized (with the The Hague Apostille Convention or through diplomatic channels).
  2. Hard copies must be sent with the original legalization (original Apostille or original stamp of the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country).
  3. All documents not issued in Spanish required certified translations .

  2.  Through diplomatic channels for the rest of the countries:
  • Ministry of Education for education degrees and correspondent Ministry for birth and nationality certificates
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued
  • Spanish Consulate or Embassy in that country
