What about codification?


If the user opens an existing file that contains a transcription, it is a good idea to select the right codification format which was used when transcribing. Usually, this is in connection with the character set that different languages require. Make sure you choose the one that best fits your language characteristics. The following screen shows some of the possibilities:

There is a serious performance problem if the video is on a CD or on a network drive


It is advisable to copy the multimedia file on the local hard drive.

Are there characters which cannot be used in Backbone Annotator?


# (hash sign): it is the section boundary

: (colon): this character can only be used after a name at the beginning of a line)

< (opening angled bracket)

> (closing angled bracket)

/ (slash)

[] square brackets are needed for the timestamps.

I transcribed my text and sectioned it, but still some of those sections cannot be seen in Backbone Annotator or SACODEYL Annotator


Most likely, you forgot to insert section boundaries (#) at the sart or at the end of the text.
